Salifu Amoako was born in 1966 and raised in Kumasi by a Muslim family who could not afford to send him to school during his infancy, Prophet Elisha Salifu Amoako went to school at a rather mature age.
He suffered embarrassment as a result, and abandoned schooling after one year and became wayward – he took to smoking, drinking and robbery.
He didn’t just become a Christian but he persecuted the famous Evangelist Amoako when the latter held a crusade in a Moslem community.
Salifu Alhassan (now Salifu Amoako) and his friends stoned the man of God whiles he was stage. And the Prophetic Evangelist spoke:
“I see some boys in the dark who came here to disrupt me.. They should all repent or they will die very soon..”
Within 3 months 2 of the boys were dead! It was then that Salifu decided to become a Christian too! After the death of his friends.
Salifu Amoako was led to the Christian faith by a man called Awuah who also introduced him to the local Assemblies of God Church at Bantama, Kumasi.
He left the Assemblies of God Church because of its constant usage of the English Language he did not quite understand.
He joined Evangelist Amoako’s Resurrection Power Evangelistic Ministry at Santasi (the prophet he persecuted) which used Twi as the medium of communication.
He committed himself to serve at his church by doing all kinds of “lifting jobs” in the church as well as the house chores for Prophet Amoako (he personally decided to serve the evangelist.. nobody forced him) who later invited him to live with him in his house. It was not only Salifu who was living at the Prophets house also Yaw Agyemang Benjamin (YABs) the prolific musician was also living there!
Evangelist Amoako thus became his mentor hence the addition of his mentor’s name ‘Amoako’ to his original name.
Salifu Amoako who claimed to have had a spectacular experience a week before his mentor, Evangelist Amoako died has been recorded as saying that, he was sleeping in Evangelist Amoako’s car when the late evangelist laid hands on him and prophesied that the anointing on him would be transferred onto Salifu Amoako and God would use him worldwide.
According to Salifu when he heard of the news of the death of his mentor, Prophet Amoako, he was so devastated that he withdrew into a room and began to pray. Indeed on that fateful day after ironing the Evangelist’s dress he was about to drive him to Accra but he stopped him. He told him:
“Today I will drive myself….”
In the course of the prayer, upon hearing his mentor’s death, God spoke to him, confirming what his mentor had prophesied that
he would have a worldwide ministry.
He fasted for many days without food and started preaching at Market places. Then his “inner eyes” opened. And he saw strange things.. He saw into the future of people and prayed for them.
He then later moved to Accra.
And this was the beginning of the ever popular ORION CINÉMA Prayer And Revival meetings !! Which shook the nation! People were rushing there! Seeking genuine repentance and healing!
Prophet Salifu Amoako whose ministry emphasizes the ministry of angels to humans – because of his belief that angels are vehicles for spectacular and supernatural occurrences in the lives of human beings, and also that they have eschatological relevance and that God shall use angels as the main instrument for the accomplishment of his end-time prophets – began his ministry by forming a small fellowship in Kumasi. He later established the “Jesus is Alive Ministry” which metamorphosed into a church, “Alive Chapel International” which was inaugurated on 10th January, 1998 in Accra.
He was all over Television and his prayer and healing crusades were advertised. Infact between 1993 to 1999 he was the MAIN FACE OF THE PROPHETIC FLOW in Ghana!
With instant miracles and hours of prayers he flourished.
Then BOOM! He disappeared!…. Where did he go??? What happened??
According to the prophet who was once “the main man” in Ghana he didn’t disappear but rather God gave him a new direction in life.
“Because there are times and seasons for everything.. including the works of the spirit..”
He rose in his ministerial rank from being a Bishop to Archbishop!
He is still in active work for the Lord.
